Sparkling day for Dianas on the Derwent

LAST Saturday’s “Dianas on the Derwent” powerboat race meeting started off really well with great weather. The first race was for the juniors, and Luke Barnes won. Next was the first heat of the 25 horsepower boats taken out by Brooke Flakemore, and the second by Lachlan McCall. Due to their small size, the 25hp racers had to work really hard due to the rough conditions.

Ffugly cleaned-up in the veteran and vintage boat classes, taking a win for both races. Finally, Jamie Beven in Obsession won Cock of the East, the main race of the day for the six fastest boats.  The meeting was called off in the afternoon due to safety reasons because of rough water, but over all it was a great day.

The next race meeting at the MYCT’s Granton circuit will be held on the March long weekend. Follow on Facebook for more information.
