Big response to vegetation fire at Magra

THERE is smoke in the air at New Norfolk while multiple resources from the Tasmania Fire Service respond to a vegetation fire at Magra. The fire was first reported at 12.28pm today (Sunday).

Four helicopters were soon on the scene of the fire near 438 Back River Rd, along with two fixed-wing aircraft.

Other resources include three heavy tankers, two medium tankers, three light tankers and two utility vehicles.

As of 2pm, the Tasmania Fire Service says it is working to contain and bring the fire under control.

As of 8.30pm the fire is reported as being patrolled at regular intervals by Tasmania Fire Service crews. The TFS recommends that if there is any fire activity causing you concern to report it by calling 000.
