Derwent region forestry expo at Glenora

COMMUNITY members are invited to attend a forestry expo at Glenora District School tomorrow, Wednesday, March 29. The expo is aimed at those interested in a career working outdoors, and it will be visited by school groups throughout the day.

From 2-3pm the festival will be open to the public, providing access to representatives of the following forestry sectors: nursery, planting, silviculture, foresters, cadet foresters, GIS/drones, fire operations, harvesting, harvesting simulators, haulage, mechanical/workshop, sawmilling and processing, career mapping/diversity and inclusion, school-based apprenticeships and school forestry work experience.

Industry spokesperson Denise DeBattista said the expo would be of interest to those:

  • interested in a career working outdoors with nature
  • wanting to be part of the climate change solution
  • interested in operating machinery with leading technology
  • interested in working with forest and wood products
  • interested in a mechanical trade
  • wanting to know more about the careers available in the forest Industry

The expo is at Glenora District School, 620 Gordon River Rd, Glenora, open to the public from 2-3pm on March 29.
