Police investigating Fairview firearms incident

DETECTIVES from the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) at Bridgewater Police are investigating an firearm incident alleged to have occurred in the Fairview area of New Norfolk overnight. Police attended the scene about 2am today (Tuesday), after a firearm was reported as being discharged at a house on Benjamin Tce. No one was injured and no property was damaged.

At least two men are alleged to be involved in the incident. “At this early stage of the investigation, it appears that the parties involved are known to each other and there is no risk to the wider public,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said.

“Tasmania Police takes firearm crime seriously and investigations are continuing into the matter today. Police are appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact Bridgewater Police 131 444 or report to crimestopperstas.com.au – information can be provided anonymously.
