Big day of chamber music in the valley

THIS year’s Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival will kick off with a day-long fringe event at New Norfolk on October 14. It was announced earlier today that the program had been designed to be accessible for the whole community.

The day will begin with a concert by the Sequenza Trio, joined by the New Norfolk Motet Choir. There will also be an exhibition in the Barracks Gallery at Willow Court and the Derwent Valley Concert Band will play at the New Norfolk Market.

In the early afternoon there will be a concert by the Tasmanian String Quartet and clarinetist Andrew Seymour playing works by Mozart and Jabra Latham. In early evening, patrons will be able to enjoy jazz and refreshments whilst touring the Nurses Quarters and Ladies Cottage at Willow Court.

The Tasmanian Chamber Music Festival will take place from October 20-22, taking in St David’s Cathedral, Government House and the Hobart Town Hall before moving to Valleyfield and the Agrarian Kitchen at New Norfolk.

Tickets to the fringe events at New Norfolk are available here. Tickets to other events at the festival are available here.

  1. Talk about great news this is a very good thing….”the program had been designed to be accessible for the whole community.

The look on the introduction to this piece is so well thought out & creative. This same look captures so much of what helps make dvSEE a place to live with everyday people doing everyday things. I will be attending & telling others about.

  2. Thank you New Norfolk News for this wonderful article. There’s already lots on the program for the day with both visiting nationally recognised musicians and our own award winning local derwent valley concert band and st Matthews motet represented. You can access tickets at the Derwent Valley Arts website.
