Intense game for women’s second outing in Div 2

Senior Women’s Report by Vanessa Stevenson

THE Eagles’s Senior Women’s team took on University at its Sandy Bay ground at the weekend, this being our first encounter with a Division 2 team since being promoted from Division 3. Right from the first ball, the intensity of the game was full-on and took the Eagles by surprise.

This intensity continued throughout the game. University was too strong in the first two quarters but the Eagles fought back in the second half and should be proud of their efforts against the strong University side.

Sophie Farrow played her usual strong captain’s game in the centre, as did Krystina Jacobs and Sid Skelly. Grace Kube and Hayley James were also among the best players. Taylah Squires, one of our younger players, was thrown into defence and did a great job. The backline battle well all day.

The Eagles should be proud of their efforts with a younger side this year and many first-time players for the club.
