Severe frost warning issued

Frost Warning for the Upper Derwent Valley, North West Coast, Central North, North East, Midlands, East Coast and South East forecast districts

IT’S another cold night in Tasmania and a frost warning has been issued for multiple forecast districts. A low of -2 was recorded at Ouse at 6.30am today (Wednesday) and as of 8.50pm it is 2.5 degrees. Bushy Park recorded a -2 degrees minimum at 4am and it was zero degrees at 9am. As of 8.50pm it is 1.4 degrees.

Check the latest weather observations from Ouse and Bushy Park. The Bureau of Meteorology does not make weather observations at New Norfolk.

Severe frosts with temperatures down to -5 degrees which can cause significant crop damage are forecast for Thursday morning in parts of the Central North and Midlands forecast districts.

Frosts with temperatures down to -1 degrees are forecast for Thursday morning in parts of the North West Coast, North East, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts.

Please be aware: Temperatures at ground level can be many degrees lower than those recorded by standard weather stations, especially in calm conditions with clear skies.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.
