Final Flood Watch for the Lower Derwent River

Flood Watch Number: 3

The threat of further flooding in the Flood Watch area has eased.

A westerly airstream has brought heavy falls to the flood watch area during Tuesday, Wednesday and into Thursday morning. The passage of a cold front during Wednesday evening also brought showers to the north east.

Rainfall is forecast to ease into the weekend. Rainfall totals of up to 10 mm are possible for the Lower Derwent River catchment to 9:00 am Friday, with further rainfall of up to 5 mm to 9:00 am Saturday.

Flooding is no longer expected in the following catchments:

Derwent River (Lower Derwent and Styx Rivers)

A Flood Warning is current for the North Esk River.

Note: This Flood Watch is a “heads up” for possible future flooding and is NOT a Flood Warning. The Bureau of Meteorology does not provide a flood warning service for all of the catchments covered by this flood watch.
