THE Maydena RSL Club will host the Homegrown Music Festival next week. The festival will help to raise funds for the RSL Club and reinforce its value as a local meeting place for the Tyenna Valley.
It will be held at the club, at 70 Kallista Rd, Maydena, from 3pm until late next Saturday July 29, with food vans on site, warming fires and mulled wine. Free camping will be available.
The headline act will be Zack Walsh along with the Alice Jane Duo with Jules, The Ravens, Denley Moor Band, Tammy Riley, and the Larissa Murtagh Duo with Amy Jay.
Tickets are $30 at trybooking.com/CIOIU or $35 at the door. The proceeds will help to keep the club open. Raffles are also being conducted.
The organisers say that if the RSL was to close the town would lose its Anzac history, the stories of local returned servicemen and the memorial garden to lost diggers. The club is also the last place in town for people to meet for special events, Christmas, Anzac Day, Easter, funerals and birthdays. All support is appreciated in the effort to keep the club open.
