POLICE are seeking witnesses to a serious crash Involving a young pedestrian on the Lyell Hwy between New Norfolk and Granton last night (July 23). Police previously described this as an incident involving a scooter-rider at Granton.
“Police are investigating a serious crash that occurred on the Lyell Hwy at Sorell Creek,” a Tasmania Police spokesperson said. “Preliminary investigations indicate that around 8.40pm on Sunday, July 23, a 16 year-old
boy was walking towards Hobart when he was struck by a vehicle heading in the same direction.
“The boy suffered serious head injuries and is in a critical condition at the Royal Hobart Hospital. The 21-year-old male driver and 19-year-old female passenger of the vehicle were uninjured,” the spokesperson said.
Investigations are continuing and anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Bridgewater police on 131 444.
