CHANGES to traffic conditions on Black Snake Rd and the Brooker Hwy northbound on and off ramps at Granton will start from mid-week as major construction continues on the new Bridgewater Bridge. Starting from Wednesday, August 30, motorists will be directed onto a new temporary section of Black Snake Rd closer to the Brooker Hwy to allow for the construction of a new section of the Lyell Hwy.
The temporary road will be in place until traffic is then shifted onto the new alignment slightly further to the west, later this year. Access to Black Snake Rd will be maintained at all times, and the on and off ramps will continue to be operational. Traffic will be reduced to one lane at times and some speed limit reductions will also apply.
While no significant delays through the area are expected, the Department of State Growth says drivers should plan their journeys, allow extra time and obey all signage and instructions from traffic controllers. More information about the bridge replacement project including plans showing the changed traffic conditions are available at bridgewaterbridge.tas.gov.au.
