Homestyle cafe opens at Hamilton

A LOCAL family staged a low-key start for the Derwent Valley’s newest business today, opening the doors of Cowie’s Cafe on the main road at Hamilton. Mark and Natalie Cowen and their daughter Savannah will be there again tomorrow (Saturday) and will then close to prepare for a grand opening next weekend (September 23-24).

The homestyle cafe is in the Jackson’s Emporium building on the corner of Franklin Place (Lyell Hwy) and Arthur St, which has undergone a thorough renovation to become a bright and welcoming coffee shop and cafe.

After the grand opening it is envisaged that the opening hours from Wednesday to Sunday. Breakfasts will be a weekend specialty, as well as Saturday lunches. The standard menu includes egg and bacon rolls, scones, toasties, burgers, soups, quiches and more.

Also on the shelf is a range of tempting treats handmade by Savannah, who will be the main coffee-maker.
