Man dies in Magra crash

POLICE are investigating a crash that resulted in the death of a motorist at Magra early this morning (October 14). A spokesperson said a grey Toyota Hilux had been travelling southward on Back River Rd when the 33-year-old male driver failed to negotiate a right-hand bend in the road.

“As a result, the vehicle left the roadway and collided with a power pole and the driver was trapped within the vehicle,” the police spokesperson said. “Nearby residents heard the crash and rendered assistance to the driver until emergency services arrived. The driver was removed from the vehicle and sadly, died at the scene.”

A report will be prepared for the coroner. Condolences to the family and friends of the man involved as well as those who helped at the scene. Anyone needing to talk to someone about the incident can call Lifeline on 131 114.
