Thunderstorm warning cancelled

Cancellation of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

For people in Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East and Central Plateau Forecast Districts.

Issued at 9:16 pm Saturday, 28 October 2023: Thunderstorms have eased over southern Tasmania.

Weather Situation: A fast-moving cold front is sweeping over Tasmania this evening. Weakening of instability ahead of the front has led to an easing of the thunderstorm activity.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in Tasmania. The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.

Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau’s website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210.
