COMMUNITY radio station Tyga-FM and its volunteer announcers received a number of awards at the Tasmanian Independent Country Music Awards at the weekend. These included:
- Community Radio Volunteer of the Year Awards: Roz Chapman, Bruce Lamb and Colleen Monk
- Lifetime Radio Award: Barry Atkins for his long service with Tyga-FM and Hobart-FM
- Award for promotion of country music: Ray Hewitt, Janet Onn and Richard Onn
- Country Music DJ of the Year: Nigel Jones.
- Country Music Program of the Year: Nigel Jones’ Top 40 Country (tied with Coast-FM’s Sunday Country)
- Country Music Station of the Year: Tyga-FM (tied with Coast-FM).
In the music section of the awards, local artist Bridget Pross was named the Tasmanian Female Artist of the Year.
