Volunteer grant boost for Bothwell Fire Brigade

THE Bothwell Fire Brigade will receive $1500 in federal funding under the Volunteer Grants Program, the Federal Member for Lyons, Brian Mitchell MHR, said today. “Grants of between $1000 and $5000 were available to assist eligible not-for-profit community organisations support the efforts of their volunteers,” Mr Mitchell said.

“Bothwell Fire Brigade will use its grant to purchase a washing machine and dryer for on-site cleaning of personal protective equipment (PPE). By washing PPE on-site, the risk of taking contaminants home to families is vastly reduced,” Mr Mitchell said.

“This is a really sensible use of this terrific grant which recognises the vital role volunteers play in our community. This grant supports groups like the Bothwell Fire Brigade, which support us all.”
