Junior cricket results – November 24-28

SIMILAR to the senior competition, the junior cricket declared saw a number of washouts declared at the weekend but some of the week’ games were able to go ahead.

NEW NORFOLK
Under-14 Boys (Sunday, November 26:
Washed out.
Under-16 Girls* (Tuesday, November 28 ): New Norfolk 114 defeated New Town 103 at Tynwald Park. Batting first, the Redcaps batted well, played some fine shots and ran well between the wickets to get their total up to close to 100 (prior to the wicket bonus runs being added). Lilian Van Emmerik had her best batting performance to date, top scoring with 19 from 15 balls including two nice 4s. With the ball, the Redcaps bowled well and fielded even better with Sha’Diamond Evans picking up two wickets bowling and also chipping in with a nice run out. The Redcaps walked away from the game with their second win in a row which is a tribute to their continued improvement. Batting: Lilian Van Emmerik 19 from 15 (2 x 4s), Angel Green 14 from 15 (3 x 4s). Bowling: Sha’Diamond Evans 2 for 10 from 2, Angel Green 1 for 7 from 3, Indiana Curtain 1 or 13 from 3.
Stage 1 Boys**: (Monday, November 27):  New Norfolk 53 lost to Gretna Green 96. Batting: Parker Brown 11 from 26 balls (2 x 4s), Arlo Simpson 6 from 11. Bowling: Arlo Simpson 1 for 10 from two overs.
Stage 1 Girls**: (Friday, November 24): New Norfolk forfeited to North Hobart.

GRETNA
Under-14s (Sunday, November 26): 
Gretna 0/51 (13.4 overs) defeated to North Hobart White 8/50 (13.4 overs) on Sunday morning at Gretna. Bowling first, the Gretna team put the ball in all the right areas and capitalised on it, having North Hobart all out for 50. Gretna didn’t lose a wicket in the chase, getting the win easily. Hudson Stott and Cooper Gleeson both top-scored with the bat and then both picked up two wickets each to have a great game. Batting: Hudson Stott 15 from 35 (retired), Cooper Gleeson 12 from 11 (1 x 4) not out. Bowling: Hudson Stott 2 for 3 from 2, Cooper Gleeson 2 for 9 from 2.
Under-16s (Sunday, November 26): Washed out.
Stage 1 (Monday, November 27): 
Gretna Green 96 defeated New Norfolk 53. Batting: Alex Bailey 25 from 20 balls (5 x 4s), Ashton Bailey 11 from 20 balls (2 x 4s). Bowling: Aex Bailey 2 for 5 from 4 overs, Arley Bailey 1 for 4 from 2.
Gretna Gold 84 lost to Glenorchy Black 196. Batting: Shelby Smith 12 from 14 (2 x 4s), Wayde Quinn 8 from 17 (1 x 4). Bowling: Harrison Cunningham 1 for 19 from 3, Oscar Wakefied 1 for 20 from 3.

* In Under-16 Girls’ cricket each team faces 20 overs (120 balls). Each player faces the same number of balls when batting (120 divided by the amount of batters). If a player gets out they continue to bat with four bonus runs being awarded to the bowling team. Wides and no-balls are not replayed and are counted as balls faced.
