Gallery: New Norfolk Christmas Carols

A RAIN-SHORTENED carols event went ahead on the New Norfolk Esplanade tonight, despite what you might have read on social media. There was some confusion online after St Brigid’s Catholic School cancelled its choir performance due to the weather, but children’s activities went ahead, food vans did reasonable business and Santa Claus paid a visit during a condensed performance by the Derwent Valley Concert Band and the guest artists.

Thanks to the Lions Club of New Norfolk for putting on its 36th carols for the community. It’s believed this was only the second time is has been affected by rain. See more photos in the December 22 print edition of New Norfolk and Derwent Valley News and don’t forget the New Norfolk Christmas Parade at noon tomorrow (Saturday, December 9) and the Rotary Club Christmas Fair at Arthur Square in lower High St, New Norfolk, from 10am-2pm. The New Norfolk Market will not be held this week.

The carols event still provided a great opportunity to catch up, despite the rain.
