Junior cricket results – December 1-5

NEW NORFOLK
Under-14 Boys (Sunday, December 3):
New Norfolk 9/136 (24.4 overs) defeated North Hobart Dees 8/115 (29.5 overs). At the small Queens Walk Oval on Sunday morning, New Norfolk had a hit out against the North Hobart Dees. Batting first, the young Redcaps were all out for 136 in the 25th over. With the bat and both coming off senior games on the Saturday, Jack Neads (43) and Booby Nossiter (20) were the pick of the batsmen. The young Redcaps turned it on with the ball and in the field to restrict North Hobart to 115, giving New Norfolk the win. Jack Dance snagged two wickets and then chipped in with a catch and a run-out as well. Batting: Jack Neads 43 from 36 (6 x 4s), Bobby Nossiter 20 from 33 (1 x 6, 1 x 4). Bowling: Jack Dance 2 for 10 from 2, Rueben Topping 1 for 8 from 3.
Under-16 Girls* (Tuesday, December 5): New Norfolk had the bye.
Stage 1 Boys**: (Monday, December 4): New Norfolk 85 lost to UTAS Red 108. Batting: Arlo Simpson 18 from 13 (1 x 6 and 2 x 4s), Parker Brown 9 from 13. Bowling: Parker Brown 2 for 3 from 2 overs, Edward Mayne and Henry Dance both 1 for 13 from 2.
Stage 1 Girls**: (Friday, December 1): New Norfolk 121 lost to North Hobart 167. Batting: Gracie-Kaye Mayne 12 from 16 (1 x 4), Sha’Diamond Evans 10 from 16. Bowling: Sha’Diamond Evans 3 for 16 from 4, Isla Prince 1 for 18 from 2.

GRETNA
Under-14s (Sunday, December 3):
Gretna 5/157 (28 overs) defeated Lindisfarne Blue 8/156 (29.2 overs). On Sunday morning Gretna hosted Lindisfarne Blue for the first of two junior games. Bowling first, Gretna had the Blues all out for 156 in the last over. Reuben Stott (3 wickets) and Cooper Gleeson (2 wickets) both got multiple wickets. With the bat and chasing another win the Gretna team played some good cricket with Ryan Jones falling just one run short of a half-century. The young Gretna team lost five wickets on the way to securing the win in 28 overs. Batting: Ryan Jones 49 from 35 (1 x 6, 9 x 4s), Cooper Gleeson 25 from 35 (1 x 6, 2 x 4s). Bowling: Reuben Stott 3 for 9 from 3.2, Cooper Gleeson 2 for 12 from 4.
Under-16s (Sunday, December 3: Gretna 8/129 (30 overs) lost to Sorell 5/242 (40 overs). On Sunday afternoon Gretna hosted Sorell to complete the Sunday double-header at home. Sorell batted first and saw out its full 40 overs, putting on 242 runs. Chasing a big target, the Gretna team lost some early wickets and couldn’t get the run rate up. In the end, trying to score too quickly caused wickets to fall and Sorell had Gretna all out in 30 overs. George Picken managed his highest score to date to top-score with the bat with 25 including three nice fours. Batting: George Picken 25 from 52 (3x 4s), Noah Evans 22 rom 41 (3 x 4s). Bowling: Michael Pearce 1 for 23 from 8, Aiden Harvey 1 for 34 from 4.
Stage 1** (Monday, December 4): Gretna Green 138 defeated Gretna Gold 74. Batting – Gretna Green: Alex Bailey 25 from 17 (1 x 6, 4 x 4s), Arley Bailey 20 from 17 (3 x 4s); Gretna Gold: Hayley Harvey 11 from 15 (2 x 4s), Wayde Quinn 10 from 15 (2 x 4s). Bowling – Gretna Green: Connor Jones 2 for 3 from 2, Alex Bailey 2 for 12 from 3, Ashton Bailey 2 for 16 from 4; Gretna Gold: Arlo Wakefield 1 for 7 from 2, Wayde Quinn 1 for 22 from 3.
