Rain-interrupted round of local T20 cricket

T20 ACTION FOR 1ST AND 2ND GRADE – JANUARY 18

DUE to the Wednesday deluge last week only one local game of T20 cricket occurred this week, with New Norfolk welcoming Old Beach to Tynwald Park on Thursday evening.

NEW NORFOLK – 1st Grade T20 format, Thursday, January 18: New Norfolk 6/135 (20 overs) defeated by Old Beach 2/136 (16 overs). The Redcap 1 team hosted Old Beach at Tynwald for Round 3 of the four-round T20 series. Batting first, the Redcaps openers got the team off to a good start and it managed to bat out the full 20 overs, putting 135 on the scoreboard with the loss of six wickets. Defending the total in the second innings, the Redcap bowlers managed two key wickets but the damage was done when the Bushrangers’ third and fourth batsmen came to the crease meaning they could play risk free cricket to take the win in 16 overs. Opener Nathan Rice was the pick of the batsmen with 34 and Josh Eyles the pick of the bowlers with 1 for 22 from the maximum four overs.
Batting: N. Rice 34 from 34, Josh Nichols 25 from 26 (not out). Bowling: J. Eyles 1 for 22 from 4, Josh Nichols 1 for 30 from 4.

MOLESWORTH – 2nd Grade T20 format, Wednesday, January 17: Molesworth was due to take on Gretna at Gretna but the game was declared a washout due to the rain that fell on the day.

GRETNA – 2nd Grade T20 format, Wednesday, January 17: As above.
