Junior cricket results – February 23-27

NEW NORFOLK
Under-14 Boys (Sunday, Feb 25)
: New Norfolk 7/100 (30 overs) lost to Lindisfarne 6/200. The Redcaps were at Lindisfarne on Sunday, taking on Lindisfarne. Bowling first, the Redcaps saw Lindisfarne bat out the full 30 overs and put on a score of 200. Reuben Topping picked up three wickets and Hamish Fraser took two. With the bat, after last week’s batting innings the aim this week would have been to see out the full 30 overs which is exactly what the young team achieved. Judah Topping top-scored with a patient 24. The Redcaps fell short of runs but should take away from the game the improvements and efforts the coaches would have spoken about. Batting: Judah Topping 24 from 60 not out (3 x 4s), Jude Bannister 17 from 24 (2 x 4s). Bowling: Reuben Topping 3 for 18 from 3, Hamish Fraser 2 for 21 from 3.

Under-16 Girls* (Tuesday, Feb 27): New Norfolk 154 (20 Overs) defeated New Town 111 (20 Overs). The Under 16 Girls hosted New Town on Tuesday night. New Town batted first and put on a respectable total of 111 from the 20 overs. Angel Green bowled well, picking up two wickets for just eight runs from three overs, with Gracie-Kaye Mayne also being economical with her bowling and conceding just eight runs as well, and picking up a wicket. With the bat, the Redcaps all pitched in and played some great cricket to finish with a pretty high score of 154. Green had a night out with the bat as well going for an average of two runs per ball and finishing with 34 off just 17 balls including a nice six. Indiana Curtain batted well to go for more than a run per ball, finishing on 18. The Redcaps conceded just three wickets to show what a team effort it was with the bat. Batting: Angel Green 34 from 17 (1 x 6, 5 x 4s), Indiana Curtain 18 from 17 (2 x 4s). Bowling: Angel Green 2 for 8 from 3, Gracie-Kaye Mayne 1 for 8 from 2.


Stage 1** Boys: (Monday, February 26): New Norfolk 66 (20 overs) lost to Gretna Green 184 (20 overs). Batting: Arlo Simpson 10 from 14 (1 x 4), Daniel Limbrick 8 from 13 (1 x 4). Bowling: Sonny Higman 1 for 15 from 2, Arlo Simpson 1 for 22 from 3.

Stage 1** Girls: (Friday, February 23): New Norfolk 77 (20 overs) lost to Clarence 170 (20 overs). Batting: Holly Vagg 11 from 14, Isla Prince 8 from 13. Bowling / Fielding: Molly-Rose Mayne 1 run out.

GRETNA
Under-14s (Sunday, February 25): 
Gretna 8/113 (22.2 overs) lost to Clarence Roos 8/162 (24.4 overs). Gretna played Clarence at Clarence High School on Sunday. Bowling first, Gretna did a great job in bowling out the Clarence team in the 25th over for 162. Jack Cunningham had exceptional figures of 3 for just 1 run from 2 overs. With the bat Gretna, played well but lost the last wicket 50 runs short of the win. Lucas Jones top-scored with the bat with 43 with a nice 6 and several well placed 4s. Batting: Lucas Jones 43 from 30 (1 x 6, 6 x 4s), Reuben Stott 21 from 54 (not out). Bowling: Jack Cunningham 3 for 1 from 2, Jack Embrey 2 for 25 from 2.4.

Under-16s (Sunday, February 25): Gretna 8/183 (28.4 overs) lost to Kingborough 4/305 (40 overs). Gretna hosted Kingborough at Gretna, with the visitors batting first and displaying what a quality batting team they are. In their 40 overs, Kingborough put on 305 runs – a score many of the senior teams would love to post. Michael Pearce kept pushing with his bowling and was rewarded with two wickets. With the bat, Nick Ransley shot to 38 with three lovely sixes and four 4s. Brodie Speed had his best score with the bat, finishing with 37 which also included two sixes and five well-placed fours. Gretna finished quite a few runs short. Batting: Nick Ransley 38 from 26 (3 x 6s, 4 x 4s), Brodie Speed 37 from 23 (2 x 6s, 5 x 4s). Bowling: Michael Pearce 2 for 60 from 8, Aydan Bailey 1 for 49 from 5.

Stage 1**: (Monday, February 19): Gretna Gold 86 (20 Overs) lost to North Hobart Demons 152 (20 Overs). Batting: Wayde Quinn 22 from 15 (5 x 4s), Arlo Wakefield 10 from 15 (2 x 4s). Bowling/Fielding: Wayde Quinn and Brooklyn Harvey got a run-out each.
Gretna Green 184 (20 overs) defeated New Norfolk 66 (20 overs). Batting: Ashton Bailey 27 from 17 (1 x 6, 4 x 4s), Alex Bailey 24 from 16 (4 x 4s). Bowling: Connor Jones 3 for 9 from 4, Ashton Bailey 2 for 5 from 3.
