Junior cricket results – February 9-13

NEW NORFOLK
Under-14 Boys (Sunday, Feb 11)
: New Norfolk 7/166 (30 overs) was defeated by North Hobart Red 3/269 (30 overs). Sunday morning saw the Under 14 Redcaps play North Hobart Red at the West Hobart Recreation Ground. The home team batted first and was hard to break through as it posted a big score of 3 for 269 at the end of the 30
overs. Judah Topping picked up two wickets with Jack Neads grabbing the other. With the bat, the Redcaps did well to see out the full 30 overs as well, but were short of the required runs which gave North Hobart the win. Jude
Bannister continues to score runs with ease, finishing with a fine 70 not out including 14 boundaries. Batting: Jude Bannister 70 from 59no (3 x 6s and 11 x 4s), Hamish Fraser 37 from 31 (8 x 4s). Bowling: Judah Topping 2 for 25 from 3, Jack Neads 1 for 28 from 4.

Under-16 Girls* (Tuesday, Feb 13): New Norfolk 143 (20 overs) defeated UTAS Black 142 (20 overs). This evening (Tuesday) the Under 16 Girls played at Lower Queenborough Oval against UTAS Black in what must have been an
exciting game to watch. With each wicket giving the bowling team four extra runs on their total and with the Redcap girls batting first, the game went down to the wire. When it was done and dusted our girls walked away two-run winners. In fact the Redcap girls took one more wicket than UTAS which in the end was the difference between the win and the loss. With the bat, Angel Green top scored once again with 29 which included five nice fours and with the ball Addysen Nossiter and Sha’Diamond Evans picked up two wickets each with Molly-Rose Mayne and Madeline Carmichael both picking up wickets again this week. Batting: Angel Green 29 from 20 (5 x 4s), Addysen Nossiter 24 from 20 (2 x 4s). Bowling: Addysen Nossiter 2 for 14 from 4, Sha’Diamond Evans 2 for 20 from 4.

Stage 1** Boys: (Monday, February 12): New Norfolk 106 (20 overs) was defeated by Glenorchy White 183 (20 overs). Batting: Arlo Simpson 24 from 12 (1 x 6, 4 x 4s), Daniel Limbrick 5 from 12. Bowling: Arlo Simpson 3 for 9 from 3, Daniel Limbrick 2 for 10 from 2.

Stage 1** Girls: (Friday, February 9): New Norfolk 56 (20 overs) was defeated by North Hobart Blue 173 (20 overs). Batting: Sha’Diamond Evans 10 from 10 (2 x 4s), Maggie Smith 2 from 12. Bowling: Sha’Diamond Evans 1 for 5 from 2, Gracie-Kaye Mayne 1 for 21 from 2.

GRETNA
Under-14s (Sunday, February 11): 
Gretna 8/153 (26.3 overs) defeated by UTAS Lions 3/159 (25.4 overs). On Sunday morning Gretna Under 14s hosted the UTAS Lions at Gretna. Batting first, Gretna put on 153 before being all out. The last batsman dismissed, Lucas Jones, had his best outing putting on a great 51 with shots all around the
ground including a well-struck six. With the ball, Hudson Stott and Jack Cunningham both got a wicket and had
economical bowling with the Lions finding the winning runs in fewer than 26 overs. Batting: Lucas Jones 51 from 37 (1 x 6, 7 x 4s), Cooper Gleeson 27 from 39 (2 x 4s). Bowling: Hudson Stott 1 for 5 from 2, Jack Cunningham 1 for 7 from 2.

Under-16s (Sunday, February 11): Gretna defeated North Hobart by forfeit.

Stage 1**: (Monday, February 12): Gretna Green 144 (20 overs) was defeated by North Hobart Demons 161 (20 overs). Batting: Alex Bailey 18 from 17 ( 4 x 4s), Ashton Bailey 17 from 17 (4 x 4s). Bowling: Ashton Bailey 4 for 21 from 4, Alex Bailey 2 for 13 from 3.
Gretna Gold 102 (20 overs) was defeated by North Hobart Red 107 (20 overs). Batting: Wayde Quinn 22 from 16 (4 x 4s), Arlo Wakefield 15 from 13 (2 x 4s). Bowling: Harrison Cunningham 2 for 11 from 3.
