RETIRED businessman and former councillor Wayne Shoobridge has won a seat at the Derwent Valley Council table to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of former councillor Peter Binny.
Mr Shoobridge, of New Norfolk, won the majority of Mr Binny’s votes in a recount conducted this afternoon by the Tasmanian Electoral Commission and will serve on the council until the next scheduled election in 2026.
It is understood that Mr Shoobridge will be sworn-in as a councillor this afternoon. He has served two previous terms as a councillor and has been a regular observer of council meetings and a frequent participant in public question time.
