Fire Weather Warning for the Upper Derwent Valley, East Coast, Midlands and South East fire weather districts

Issued at 4.15pm  on Wednesday 21 February 2024.

The Tasmania Fire Service advises you to:

  • Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now. To create a plan, visit www.bushfire.tas.gov.au
  • Monitor the current bushfire situation and warnings at the TasALERT website www.alert.tas.gov.au or ABC Local Radio. For more information on fire danger ratings, fire bans, and how to prepare for bushfire visit the TFS website www.fire.tas.gov.au or call 1800 000 699.
  • Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.

For Thursday 22 February:

Extreme Fire Danger is forecast for the following fire weather districts:
East Coast, Midlands, Upper Derwent Valley and South East

Weather Situation

Hot, strong and gusty north to northwesterly winds ahead of a west to southwesterly change in the evening. Slight chance of dry lightning activity over central and southern parts.

The next warning will be issued by 5am Thursday.
