Great day at bowls club Hop Harvest tournament

THE New Norfolk Bowls Club held its annual Hop Harvest Fours tournament last Saturday. There were 28 teams of four on the greens, with seven of them from New Norfolk and the rest from other clubs, most notably Glenorchy Rodman (seven teams), Claremont (four), Kingborough (three) and Brighton (two), taking part in a playoff in which each team played three others. After that the two top teams played off for the first place and the third and fourth teams for the honour of third place.

First place went to a New Norfolk team of Paul Smith, Rickie Monks, Grant Triffitt and Dave Briggs, who defeated an Orford combination of Wade Oates, Ricky Limbrick, Ian Brazendale and Chris Martyn. Third place went to a team from Oatlands and elsewhere consisting of Mark Conway, Ryan Williams, Todd Clarke and Luke Ransley, who narrowly defeated a New Norfolk team of Tony Watson, David Cantwell, Greg Kingston and Wayne Clarke.
