Kline bags second Redcaps best and fairest

ALL-ROUNDER Beau Kline was last night named the winner of the Adrian Eiszele Medal for the New Norfolk Cricket Club’s best and fairest player of season 2023-24. It was Kline’s second Adrian Eiszele Medal, having been in a four-way tie for the same award last year. In the women’s division, the best and fairest award went to Angel Green who has had a great season, playing senior and junior cricket.

Kline won the medal with a strong 27 votes, ahead of runner-up Nathan Rice. Jake King and Logan Hunt tied for third place. Rounding out the top-seven were Stewart Rice, Tom Briscoe and Blake Kemmler. Logan Hunt. Kline has had a stellar season, playing in all three grades and contributing positively to them all. He’s played predominantly in 6th Grade, where he was a captain for the first time and helped to lead the very young team to the finals.

During the roster season he scored 565 runs at an average of 43.46, regularly batting in the top five. His highest score for the season is 107, with four 50s and one century to his name. With the ball, he’s taken 21 wickets at an average of 18.33 and regularly bowls within the first 20 overs. His best figures are 4-18 and he’s taken three 4fas for the season.

Green won the women’s best and fairest with 23 votes, ahead of Addysen Nossiter on 16 votes. Lisa East was third with 11 votes. Rounding out the top seven were Sidney Fletcher 7, Vanessa Fletcher 5, Alanna Pfeiffer 4 and Kelly Read 3.

Green has also had an excellent season and has continued to develop as one of the stars of the competition. Her enviable statistics include 522 runs at an average of 40.15 and a highest score of 37. With the ball, she has taken 23 wickets at an average of 24.35 and best figures of 5-13. Not yet 18 years old, she is a genuine allrounder and a threat to opposition players. The club says: “She is a gun and we wouldn’t be shocked to see her playing cricket at the highest level one day.”
