NNDFC game day notes – Round 4, April 27, 2024

NEW NORFOLK DISTRICT FOOTBALL CLUB
CLUB NOTES – APRIL 27

Today we welcome the Hobart Football Club to Boyer Oval for the first time since 2022. It is good to see that such a great, traditional club has been able to field Senior and Reserve teams this season after being unable to field a Senior team last year. It has taken a great deal of work by the Committee, players and supporters of that club. The New Norfolk District Football Club congratulates all those involved in achieving this massive turn around. We wish the all at the Tigers the very best for season 2024 and beyond as they strive to re-establish their club.

SENIOR NOTES

Today is our third home game in a row. After a very tough start to the season with three losses, we are hopeful of an improved performance today. The Eagles will be eager to get their first win of this season and their first since 2022. While the young Eagles have started the season with three losses, there have been some encouraging signs in the game splayed and coach Dylan Ford is confident that the youngsters are on the right track and that a win is not far away.

The Senior team has suffered some injuries to key players over the last three weeks, which has meant bringing in a number of Reserve players to top up which has made it difficult to get consistency into the playing group. While we are still trying to cover injuries, it is encouraging that exciting young gun Tyron Bailey is back from suspension. I am sure he will be jumping out of his skin to get a good result today.

RESERVES NOTES

As mentioned in earlier Club Notes, the Reserves have good numbers this season. This is great to see as we struggled tor numbers last season. Unfortunately, the numbers have been tested to the limit topping up the Senior team due to injuries. This has made it hard for coaches Corey Ransley and Nigel Hay to get a consistent group of players on the ground each week. The result has been three losses to start the season. However, there have been some positive signs and it won’t be long before they start winning games. Particularly when they are able to pick from a full complement of players.

WOMEN’S NOTES

The Eagles were originally scheduled to play University today at Boyer Oval. Due to roster changes as a result of Lauderdale withdrawing, this game has been transferred to July 20 at the University Oval commencing at 9.30am. Last weekend the Eagles posted their third massive win for the season with a victory over the Brighton Robins. The game also saw boom recruit Tarn Ford play her 100th career game, posting a career-equaling eight-goal performance. The Eagles are looking extremely strong and coach Josh Clifford has them firing on all cylinders early in the season. We look forward to more wins as the season progresses.

MILESTONE GAMES

Last week Tarn Ford played her 100th career game. While it was only her third game for the Eagles, it is a significant milestone in her career. Tarn celebrated the occasion with an eight-goal performance. The New Norfolk District Football Club congratulates her on achieving this milestone and hopes there are many more games in the Red, White, and Black.
