Ouse Fire Brigade barbecue this Sunday

THE Tasmania Fire Service and Ouse Fire Brigade are putting on a “thank you” barbecue for the surrounding communities this Sunday in appreciation of support received during last the summer’s bushfires.

TFS midlands district officer Jason Vinen said the event was a thank you to the Ouse and lakes communities for the support shown during the recent bushfires in the area.

About 150 firefighters were involved in the response to a series of bushfires in late February and early March, at Bradys Lake, Dee Lagoon, Lanes Tier and Snake Tier. These covered a combined area of more than 5000 hectares.

“Join us on Sunday, May 19, from 10am to 2pm, as we express our gratitude to the community for their incredible support during the recent bushfires,” Mr Vinen said. “Enjoy a barbecue, fire truck displays and fire safety advice,” he said.

Mr Vinen said this would also be a great opportunity for anyone interested in becoming a volunteer fighter to learn more from the recruitment team.

The thank-you barbecue will be held at the Ouse Fire Station, 6958 Lyell Hwy, Ouse.
