Car seized at New Norfolk overnight

POLICE say they have seized a vehicle at New Norfolk overnight, after it was allegedly involved in an attempt to evade police. A spokesperson said officers were patrolling New Norfolk at about 3am when they attempted to intercept a green Mitsubishi Triton in the vicinity of Warner Ave.

“The driver of the vehicle reportedly refused to stop and evaded police,” the spokesperson said. “The vehicle was located and seized by police a short time later. Police have identified the occupants of the vehicle, and investigations are continuing.”

The spokesperson said proactive police patrols would continue day and night across the broader Derwent Valley and Brighton municipalities.

  1. This is exactly why we need 27/7 policing in this town ! Whilst it’s good to see the occasional blitz (not the recent road blitz on the highway… easy revenue that particular tokenism event) the amount of ongoing crime daily and mostly nightly needs constant addressing to seriously stomp it out. Police being visible on the streets keeping an eye out for recidivists and the up and coming crim would be a deterrent. I am at a loss as to why the minister and the other upper management puppets in Tas Police continue to ignore this issue. Statistics do not tell the true story… they only help to justify the budget.
