NNDFC game day notes – Round 10, June 15, 2024

TODAY marks the beginning of the second half of the SFL season as we welcome the Cygnet Football Club to Boyer Oval. Since our last report, the New Norfolk District Football Club has enjoyed a huge win against Claremont for the Mulga Clayton Cup and followed up with an upset win against last season’s grand finalist the Huonville Lions at Huonville.

Both games demonstrated that the club is on the right track and the younger players are now starting to show the benefit of experience gained over the past two seasons. Cygnet sits undefeated at the top of the ladder and will be extremely tough to beat.

However, the Eagles will be full of confidence after the last two games and will go into the match hoping to pressure the opposition and prove they have improved from the first game of the season when they last met. It won’t be an easy game, but the Eagles will be looking for a good team effort to fully test their opponents.

THE Reserves have had a tough season as they have consistently lost players to the senior squad. They have won two games so far and today’s match won’t be easy against second-placed Cygnet. Hopefully with a more settled team they may be able to take it up to their more fancied opponents.

TODAY the Lady Eagles line up against second-placed Hutchins in what will be an important match to stay in contention for the finals. Following a loss to top-of-the-table Claremont, the Eagles got back on the winners list with a strong performance against Huonville. There is only percentage between the two sides at this stage, with both teams only losing to Claremont this season. It won’t be an easy task today, but a strong team effort may be what is need to get across the line.
