Derwent Valley Council community grants on offer

THE Derwent Valley Council is calling for applications for a share in its $20,000 community grants program for 2024/25. The funding awarded in this grant round will bring the total to more than $312,600 that has been provided to a range of community organisations since the small grants program began in 1997/98.

Grants from previous rounds have supported a broad range of local organisations through funding allocated to support equipment for projects such as audio-visual technology, a lawnmower, club uniforms, personal protective equipment and a equestrian cross-country obstacle course, among others. Grant funding can be used for things such as:

  • Community projects
  • Health and wellbeing projects and initiatives
  • Environmental initiatives
  • Asset purchases to enhance the functions of a community group/organisation.
  • Initiatives that encourage wider use of/improving access to community facilities.

The 2024/25 Community Grants Program opens today (July 8) with applications to be submitted by midnight on Sunday, August 1. All intending applicants are asked to discuss their proposal with the council before making a submission.

More information including the council’s grants policy, a community grants guidelines document and application forms are available on the council’s website. Successful grant recipients are expected to be announced in October.
