Road weather warning overnight and Thursday

Road Weather Alert for Tasmania
for North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts

Issued at 4:50 pm EST on Wednesday 3 July 2024.

Icy roads will make driving conditions dangerous during Wednesday evening and Thursday in parts of the North West Coast, Central North, North East, Western, Central Plateau, Midlands, East Coast, Upper Derwent Valley and South East forecast districts.

For information on any road closures, please contact your local council or the Police, who issued the following local roads advice at 5pm:

  • Lyell Highway – Caution for slippery conditions between Bronte Park and Derwent Bridge – Ice
  • Lake St Clair Rd – Caution for slippery conditions – Ice
  • Highland Lakes Rd – Extreme Caution for slippery conditions ice between Miena and Poatina – Ice
  • Lake Dobson Rd, Mt Field – Extreme Caution for slippery conditions – Ice
  • Marlborough Rd – Extreme Caution for slippery conditions – Ice

GENERAL ADVICE FROM TASMANIA POLICE

  • Remember black ice is often invisible, so if you’re on the roads please take it slow.
  • Put your headlights on if visibility is poor.
  • Leave plenty of space between vehicles.
  • Obey any road closures or warning signs about hazardous conditions.
