THE New Norfolk Panthers women returned to the pitch with a determined mindset for Round 2 last weekend, opening their match against Clarence Zebras with a tense, scoreless first half. It took a little time to find their rhythm, with the Panthers looking slightly flat‑footed early on as both sides battled for control.

Despite the slow start, the Panthers produced some impressive long kicks that pushed play deep into Clarence territory, though a few timing misreads meant opportunities slipped away.
Clarence’s defensive structure was strong, cutting off through‑balls and making it difficult for the Panthers to break through cleanly.
The second half saw Clarence strike first, putting the Panthers under immediate pressure. Ten minutes later, Clarence made another great run, ending in them scoring again, bringing the score to 2-0 at the 68th minute.
The momentum looked to be shifting away, but the Panthers women refused to let the game get away from them.

Instead, they regrouped, lifted their intensity and began to carve out space with confident forward runs and renewed energy. The final 20 minutes became a showcase of grit, resilience, and dazzling team effort.
A sharp attacking move saw the Panthers slot home their first goal, igniting belief across the pitch. Soon after, another brilliant finish found the back of the net, bringing the score to 2-2 and sending a surge of momentum through the squad.
From two goals down to level in the dying stages, the Panthers women proved exactly what they’re made of — heart, determination, and the ability to rise when it matters most. It was a hard‑earned draw and a performance that sets a strong tone for the season ahead.
