THE Rumblers Hotrod and Classic Car Club will hold their annual “Rat Rod” Day at the Kempton Oval this Saturday, April 18. This will be the third year that Rat Rod Day has been in Kempton and the event has proven to be very popular.

“The club has purposely positioned the show in a rural area and in the cooler months of the year as the busy festive schedules of summer fade behind us,” said Mick Downey from the Rumblers Hotrod and Classic Car Club.
“With support from the Southern Midlands Council and sponsorship from a number of generous Tasmanian businesses, the event provides a welcome economic injection into the Southern Midlands community, the Southern Hawks Junior Football Club and selected charities,” he said.
“We will have a roaming spruiker throughout the day, entertaining our visiting public, commenting on the activities and encouraging support for our sponsors.” The event is open to hot rods, rat rods, muscle cars, classics, bikes, projects, rocker cover racing, rod balance, swap meet and more. There will be musical entertainment and food and drinks will be available for purchase.
At the end of the day trophies will be awarded for the various sections of the show, such as best car, best pickup, best unfinished project, people’s choice and encouragement award. There will also be gate prizes. Rat Rod Day is at the Kempton Oval from 9.30am to 2.30pm on April 18. Gate entry is $10 per person and free for school-aged children. Exhibitors are also admitted free of charge.
