TODAY we welcome the Dodges Ferry Sharks to Boyer Oval for the first encounter between the two Senior and Reserve men’s sides of the 2026 SFL Community League season. Today’s games, starting with the Lady Eagles pitted against University at 10am, promise to be tough but interesting encounters.
Our new Eagle Bar has been a great success and we welcome players, supporters and patrons to use this great facility to watch today’s games in comfort and avail themselves of the food and beverages on offer. The grandstand is still under reconstruction and a few weeks away from completion. In good news, the carpark is now complete and available for use. We hope everyone enjoys today’s games and we wish all teams’ good luck.
Josh Clifford to set club record today
Today Josh Clifford plays his 302nd Senior game for the club, which breaks Roger Belcher’s club record of 301 Senior games. Josh played his first game in 2007 and has now racked up 301 Senior and 15 Reserve games for a
total of 316 club games. He has had an illustrious career with the NNDFC, with some highlights being:
Premierships in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017; Senior Coach from 2019-21 and Co-Coach in 2022; Women’s Coach 2024; Senior best and fairest winner in 2022; NNDFC Life Member and SFL Life Member.
SENIOR NOTES
The Seniors are encountering a frustrating season. They have been very competitive in most games but unfortunately have only won two games so far. Following a great 21-point victory over Lindisfarne prior to the bye, they came back to earth with a thud with a 132-point loss to Cygnet last weekend. Today they line up against the Dodges Ferry Sharks, who sit in fifth place on the ladder with four wins for the season. The Sharks are coming off a strong 17-point victory over Lindisfarne last weekend and will be chock full of confidence. Today’s game will be another tough encounter against the Sharks who will be looking to string two wins together. However, I am sure the boys will be in for the contest. Let’s hope that the Eagles can get back on the winners’ list today from 2pm.
RESERVES NOTES
The Reserves are experiencing another up and down season. As with the Seniors, they have been more competitive this season but have only won two games. On their best days they are very competitive. However, constant personnel changes and inconsistency are causing concerns. Today they come up against the Sharks who sit in equal top position on the ladder with Lindisfarne, who they defeated by 10 points last week. There is still hope that the Reserves can make finals this season as they have shown that they are a much more competitive outfit than last season. Today’s game will be very tough, but if they have a full list to select from, they should be competitive. Let’s see if the Reserves can put in a good performance today, back on their home turf at noon.
WOMEN’S NOTES
The Lady Eagles are again enjoying a good season to date. They have chalked up six wins so far but have suffered losses in their last two matches against strong clubs Hutchins and The Port. The Eagles sit in fourth place on the ladder on equal points with The Port, only separated by percentage. Today, the Eagles are back home against University, who sit in fifth place on the ladder. Based on previous encounters, the Eagles would be expected to win but University will be trying extremely hard to notch another win and move up the ladder. It will be another tough game for the Lady Eagles, but we hope they can get back on the winners list and start to build towards the finals. We wish them the best of luck in their game at 10am today.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS TODAY
