GALLERY: Corumbene art exhibition drew more than 100 entries

MORE than 100 entries were received for the recent art exhibition at Corumbene in New Norfolk, organised by the home’s Wellbeing and Lifestyle team as way to increase the engagement between residents, community members, relatives and staff members.

Announcing the winners of “people’s choice” awards based on the votes of visitors to the three-day exhibition exhibitionr, Corumbene chief executive Alison Standen said more than 100 submissions had been received, in a wide range of media.

The exhibits featured paintings, quilts, crochet, cards, collages, birdhouses, pillows, knitted vests, handmade bags and more. Ms Standen said it had initially been intended to have the exhibition open to visitors from June 23-25, but it was so popular that she asked or it to be extended until just before the awards ceremony and afternoon tea on Friday, June 26.

Two of the three awards went to community members and the overall winner was a Corumbene resident. Third place went to Alice Clark for her green octopus and second place went to Pauline Plunkett for her table of crocheted items. First place went to Heather Andrew who won for her landscape paintings.

Thanks to Corumbene for sharing the following photos of the exhibition:
