TODAY, we welcome the Hobart Football Club to Boyer Oval for our third encounter of the season, but the first on our home turf. Today’s games, starting with the Senior Women at 10am, promise to be very tough but interesting encounters.
Our new Eagle Bar has been a great success this season and we welcome players, supporters and patrons to use this facility to watch the games in comfort and avail themselves of the food and beverages on offer. The grandstand rebuild is nearing completion and will be another great asset when completed. The new car park is now complete and available for use. We hope everyone enjoys today’s games and we wish all teams good luck.
SENIOR GAME
THE Seniors are enjoying an improved, if frustrating, season. They have been very competitive in most games and reduced the losing margins in many games from last season but have only won three games to date. They will be looking to string two wins together following a tough 16-point victory over Claremont prior to the bye. Today, they line up against the Hobart Tigers, who sit in third place on the ladder with six wins for the season. The Tigers are coming off a strong 17-point victory over Dodges Ferry in their last game and will be chock full of confidence. The Tigers were victorious against the Eagles in their two previous encounters at the TCA, so today’s game should be another close encounter. I’m sure the boys will be in for the contest. Let’s hope that the Eagles can turn the tables on the Tigers on home turf today.
RESERVES NOTES
THE Reserves are experiencing another up and down season. As with the Seniors, they have been more competitive in many games this season and have won three matches to date. On their best days, they are very competitive. However, constant personnel changes and inconsistency are causing concerns. Today, they play the Hobart Tigers, who sit one game behind them on the ladder, for the third time this season. The two previous encounters, both at the TCA Ground, resulted in a 5-point victory and 29-point loss. Following a tough three-point victory over Claremont prior to the bye, the Reserves will be looking to string two wins together today. There is still hope that the Reserves can make finals this year, as they have shown that they are a much more competitive outfit than last season. Today’s game will be very tough, but if they have a full list to select from, they should be competitive. Let’s see if the Reserves can put in a good performance today back on their home turf.
WOMEN’S MATCH
THE Lady Eagles are having a good season. They have had eight wins to date, with their losses being to Claremont, Hutchins and The Port. The Eagles sit in fourth place on the ladder on equal points with The Port Women, only separated by percentage. Today, the Eagles are again at home following a good 33-point victory against Huonville before the bye. They play the Hobart women for the second time this season, following a good 125-point victory in their first encounter at the TCA in Round 2. Based on previous performances it’s hard to see Hobart worrying the Lady Eagles today.
GOOD LUCK TO ALL TEAMS TODAY
