TODAY’S New Norfolk Market has been cancelled due to the ongoing severe weather warning for damaging winds.
“Unfortunately, today’s New Norfolk Market has been cancelled due to a severe weather warning impacting New Norfolk, with wind gusts of up to 100 km/h forecast until later this morning,” market operator Jessica Cosgrove advised at 6am today.
“The latest update from the Bureau of Meteorology at 4:18 am confirms that the warning remains active, and conditions are already very gusty here.
“It is simply far too dangerous for our stallholders to set up and for the market to operate safely. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.”
The bureau also advises that another burst of damaging winds may return to parts of Tasmania from Sunday morning.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11am today. (click here for the latest version)
